Question: Does wallpaper assist in soundproofing?
Top Answer (32% of 94 votes): Rarely.

Answer: In some cases
Explanation: I love using wallpaper in our projects, it all depends on the weight and thickness of the wallpaper. Most commercial products are thicker and can add some barriers to a space.

Answer: In some cases
Explanation: There are so many types of wallcovering available today. I would consider specialty wall panels a part of this group as well, and there are some fantastic acoustical options available in that group (AI show some in my portfolio photos in this profile) Acoustics can also be handled with extra drywall, specialty drywall products, and other surfaces (like floors and ceilings)

Explanation: It depends on the kind of wall paper being used.
King and Queens Custom Furniture
Answer: Rarely
Explanation: Only cork wallpaper can assist in sound-proofing but that is not to say that using this type of wallpaper will result in actual sound-proofing. The best kind of sound-proofing is 1/2 inch thick, compressed paper, wood and foam fiber boards that are placed behind the drywall, beneath your floor and above your ceiling. Wallpaper is decorative, at most. Cork wallpaper deadens very little sound. Ultimate sound-proofing is achieved by sound-roofing fiber boards.
